How can I tell if this program is a good fit for me?

All of our programs at Merit America are best designed to support those who are planning to make a career change. Our coaches are best positioned to support our learners in this context, and our curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation for entry-level roles in any related track.

We highly recommend considering your career path before enrolling into our programs. If a certificate is your main goal rather than a promotion or new job, our programs may not be the best fit for your needs.

How much time will I devote each week to my Merit America course?

As an example: Both our IT Support and Data Analytics courses require a minimum commitment of 20 - 25+ hours each week, over the course of 14 weeks for our IT track and 18 weeks for our Data track.

In addition, mandatory weekly squad meetings & technical meetings that are 3-5 hours in duration total are also built into each course, and these weekly meetings cannot be rescheduled. However, all other aspects of our coursework can be completed on your own time.

What Merit America courses can I use my Career Choice funds on?

Only select Merit America courses are eligible for Career Choice coverage, and enrollment dates vary each year.

This information will be provided ASAP for 2025 on our landing page, and additional updates will be provided in this page as well as via email directly for those who are actively in our admissions process.

To receive the most up-to-date information and expedite the enrollment process, we highly recommend completing your admission application as soon as you’d like to join a course. This way, once new courses become available, your only next step will be to finalize your admission for your chosen cohort!

What is the cost of the program for those utilizing Career Choice funds?

Our typical program costs are higher than your Career Choice payment request, however, thanks to our partnership with Amazon Career Choice we discount our fees so you will not have any additional costs after submitting your full Amazon Payment Request.

I no longer work at Amazon. Will my voucher still cover the cost of my course?

If you have submitted a request into our system before departing from Amazon and it is still actively pending, your course is still able to be covered! For additional questions or more support, please connect with careerchoice@meritamerica.org.

Are accommodation letters available? How do I obtain one and submit it to my workplace?

Yes!

Accommodation letters will automatically be sent to you 14 days in advance of our program start date, and will be sent from this email address: careerchoice@meritamerica.org

This letter will then need to be provided directly to your HR contact, and a visual guide with additional information regarding this step can be found here.

How can I tell what my computer’s specifications are?

How do I select my mandatory squad time?

Squad times will become available to select within the My Merit America portal, and once live, information will be shared from our Admissions Team. Please keep a close eye on your inbox during this stage, and be sure to select a time ASAP once the survey is available!

Similarly to tuition voucher requests, squad time selections are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and are mandatory weekly sessions.

Can I change my time once already selected?

We unfortunately are not able to adjust squad times once selected, as these times are determined by the broader availability of all enrolled learners in each given program.

Please be sure to pick the best time for you once selection is available!

What can I do if none of the times work for me?

If you are unable to attend any of the times provided, and are unable to utilize an accommodation request, please connect with our team directly at careerchoice@meritamerica.org.

I’ve submitted my tuition request. What’s next?

Thank you for submitting your voucher request!

At this stage: Your tuition voucher request is currently pending in our system, and will remain pending in our system until you've progressed past week 4 of our course. We stick to this timeline in order to provide you with a trial period of our course, in which your tuition could still be used with another provider if you find that our course isn't the best fit.

Once you've progressed past week 4, you'll see your voucher being fully processed in the AtoZ portal. This next step will be completed from our end, and there are no additional action items on your end regarding your voucher.

I’m starting program soon and have not received additional links yet. Who do I contact?

More information regarding these resources will be shared with you directly from our Program Team, within the week of your course beginning. Please keep a close eye on your inbox during that time!

What should I do if I need to withdraw my enrollment / unenroll from my program?

(1) If you find that you are needing to unenroll from our program while in the admissions phase, please reach out to careerchoice@meritamerica.org immediately.

(2) If you find that you are needing to unenroll from our program while currently enrolled, please connect with your Coach, or PSM, immediately once you are needing to unenroll.
